  • Kids love to play with crayons and paint. Valentine themed coloring pages are perfect for as Valentine gifts for kids. When they’re done, they can give their masterpiece to Grandma and Grandpa or their best friends!
  • Get a basket together and fill it with all of their favorite candies. They do not have to be Valentine Day candies, they can be ordinary candies and treats that the kids like. You can even put these in a decorated, cellophane bag.
  • Attend a live concert with their favorite characters if any are performing in your area.

For older children, here are some other ideas:

  • Magazines. Little girls love those teen magazines while younger boys love comics.
  • Webkinz plush toys are the rage among the 5-10 year olds. Supervise the online adoption process and computer time.
  • Coupons. You can make these up on your computer. Give your coupons to your children and reward them for good behavior. You can give them all sorts of coupons, such as allowing them to stay up after their bedtime or not have to do one of their chores. Your kids will love these coupons and they won’t cost a dime.
  • Play cosmetics for girls.
  • Hand held video games for boys and girls.

For teenager, here are ideas for Valentine gifts they’ll appreciate:

  • Gift certificates that are redeemable online or at their favorite mall.
  • Gift certificates for electronics store such as “Best Buy”.
  • Movie passes.
  • Cash or Cash Cards. Teenagers can always use this, but you can have some fun with it. You can fold up dollar bills and put them into candy boxes or into small little heart shaped boxes. Even better are debit gift cards that you can design online and load with the amount of money you want your teen to have.

You can also take your children on a trip to the Zoo or another place that they will enjoy going with the family. Try attending a musical performance by a symphony orchestra or stage play at a theater to broaden everyone’s horizons.

Older children may balk at such an idea and would rather spend time with their friends instead. You may be better off to give them things to make it easier on everyone, but why not let them invite one friend to take with them on an outing?

You can still get your older kids a little bag of candy. This never goes out of style. No matter how old they get, your kids will never outgrow candy. So even if they groan at you, they’ll more than appreciate the dollar bills tucked in with the candy.

Your kids will pretty much enjoy anything that you give them for this special day. Make sure that you tell them how much you love them as well. Saying “I Love You” and paying extra attention to them is often the best Valentine Day gifts for kids.
